In a first of its kind study, researchers were able to find scientific evidence to prove a long-standing hypothesis that IT and technology professionals across a wide range of industries prefer an integrated solution composed of hardware, software and services over a piece-by-piece approach. This philosophy has solid technological roots, as it was originated and supported by Oracle CEO Larry Ellison and the late Steve Jobs, co-founder, chairman and CEO of Apple.
The study’s findings, which can be found in an article titled “Testing the Steve Jobs Hypothesis in a B2B Context” showed that companies that take an approach to their customer communications technology solution experience higher customer satisfaction and loyalty. The study based its findings on the analysis of 36,000 ratings of technology vendor performance over 4 years.
Researchers found many factors exclusive to integrated systems directly affected the rise in satisfaction. These include enhanced functionality, ease of implementation and the ability to gain additional knowledge regarding customer needs. The authors of the study concluded that, “customers obtaining solutions were relatively more satisfied than customers obtaining an individual layer of the stack.”
With the myriad of technology solutions and software available to companies today, it’s often difficult to determine the best fit to align with organizational and customer needs. When solid research suggests the benefits of an integrated technology solution, isn’t it something worth looking into? See what CEDAR can do for you.
